2K Gets Backlash after Including Unskippable In-Game Ads to NBA 2K21

Several players have recently complained about game company 2K after it has included unskippable in-game ads to video game NBA 2K21.

According to a report by Stevivor, 2K has added unskippable advertisements into the full-price basketball game during the pre-game loading screens across all platforms. They even have the video to show it, which can be viewed below.

The video shows the ad for Facebook’s Oculus Quest 2 and it running as the match is loading the game. The problem is that players are unable to edit the team lineup until the ad has finished. The reporter revealed that other platforms like PC have the same effect even on SSD.

This is actually the same method EA used with their video game UFC 4. This all resulted to a lot of backlash from the players, which forced EA to remove ads.

Several players have already gone to reddit to complain about these unskippable advertisements. The posts are really angry, which can be read here. An issue happened in last year’s NBA 2K20’s slot machine as it encourages, even the players at a young age, to play something related to gambling like the ones we see in onlinecasinosnoop.com.

2K has not made any statements in regards to the backlash so far.

NBA 2K21 is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will be released once the next-gen consoles arrive.
