News have been circulating about ESA’s decision to go all-virtual in this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Finally, the rumors have been confirmed, E3 2021 is officially going all-digital for the very first time.
As described in E3’s official site, the largest gaming convention has adapted to the trend in this difficult time due to the global pandemic. “E3 2021 is embracing the future and showcasing the video game industry with an all-virtual event that will engage everyone, everywhere,” as stated on E3’s about page.
There might be questions about a paywall and all those stuff, and it’s great to see you will not have to pay to watch any of the live streams. It’s stated on their FAQ page that only some materials will have age restrictions, but the entire event is “free for all attendees”. Plus, you will also get a digital badge.
As of this writing, there is no news yet on who’s attending the event as exhibitors, but we already know that Sony will not be part of it. Who knows? They may change their mind.
E3 2021 will happen on June 12 to June 15.
