Battlefield 2042 Officially Confirmed to have Cross-Play, Cross-Progression and “Cross-Commerce”

Also has cross-progression and "cross-commerce".

Game company Electronic Arts and DICE have recently shared new details about the upcoming and anticipated video game Battlefield 2042.

In a new update on the EA Answers blog post, EA confirmed that the game will have cross-play, but it has some technicalities for players to check out first. There will be some opt-outs, exceptions, and more. Here is how it will work:

  • PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 consoles (PC and console can opt-out from playing together)
  • Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles

The development team is currently building cross-play functionality according to EA and doing some tests on it so this could change later on or it could stay like this. Either way, the one above is somewhat their end goal at the moment.

Aside from that, EA also confirmed that cross-progression and “cross-commerce” will be available for all platforms. Players who unlocked progress on one platform can actually transfer that progress on another with ease. Purchases will be the same as well and if speculations are correct, this will be controlled via an account that will be hosted by EA.

Battlefield 2042 will launch on October 22, 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Also, expect an upcoming EA Play Live this coming July 22 for more new details.
