Steam Deck Scalper Listings Removed by eBay

Several very noticeable Steam Deck scalper listings have been spotted recently on eBay and the e-commerce corporation is doing its best to stop them.

According to media outlet Eurogamer, there were multiple listings of the PC handheld on the e-commerce website recently and it has a price more than the suggested one. Some of the listings would even go up to over 1000 Euros or roughly $1.1K USD.

eBay has been vigilant recently and has removed these overpriced listings right away. It tells the media outlet that it has breached the presale policy. It states that all presale listings must guarantee the item will be posted within 30 days of purchase. The handheld console has not been sold yet so that is quite impossible.

“We understand how frustrating it can be for gamers to see overpriced listings for presale hardware,” an eBay representative told Eurogamer.

“To comply with eBay’s presale policy, listings must clearly indicate that they are ‘presale’ items and must guarantee postage within 30 days of purchase.

“As the Steam Deck is not expected to ship until next year, these listings are in violation of our presale policy, we are working to remove all listings of the product.”

The Steam Deck scalper listings are all gone now since eBay has done its job. It has also used block filter algorithms to prevent such items from being listed again. It can also ban the seller if it still makes into the site and breaches the policies.
