It seems like Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima’s latest piece, is going to get a sequel. According to reports, The Walking Dead star, Norman Reedus, is currently negotiating to reprise his role as the main playable protagonist, Porter Bridges, as per Vitória Pratini of AdoroCinema. However, the main source where IGN Brazil grabbed the story did not have any clips or article that confirms this.
A rough translation from IGN Brazil’s article states that “[Death Stranding] is currently in negotiations right now,” during a media roundtable for the 11th season of The Walking Dead.
While it’s not far to see a Death Stranding sequel in the near future, the game had a mixed reception from video game critics. Some stated the game had lackluster gameplay and that the game struggles during pivotal story moments. But according to our reviewer, Jarren Navarrete, “Death Stranding is a beautiful game and one hell of an experience.”
The Death Stranding Director’s Cut is on its way next month and could very well be an indicator that a sequel may be in pre-production but this may depend on the game’s sales numbers when it releases next month on PS5.
