Starship Troopers: Terran Command provides you with a broad selection of units to choose from and get a feel for what it’s like to be a commander. Each one possesses special abilities, and depending on the circumstances, those skills could even sway the outcome of the war.
Although every soldier in Starship Troopers is capable of eliminating insects, they execute so in their own unique way. As such, Here’s a rundown on all Starship Troopers Terran Command Units along with their special abilities.
All Starship Troopers Terran Command Unit Skills and Abilities
Starship Troopers: Terran Command grants new abilities to your troops after they have reached Level 3 in the game. When an upgrade is available, a little star icon will appear in the unit’s panel, and you can only select one of the possible alternatives from that list. Due to the fact that squads change frequently, certain abilities don’t carry over to subsequent missions.
Combat Engineers
Combat Engineers excel in securing choke spots, where they may simultaneously incinerate a large number of Bugs. When attacking, they prefer to use a short-range flamethrower, which deals significant damage and stops any Bugs caught in its path.
Ability
- M7 Incendiary Grenade – Sets a specified area on fire, which inflicts damage and prevents enemy movement.
- Turrets & Repairs – When on War Support, the Combat Engineers can place turrets all across the base to protect it from attackers. They can also perform equipment repairs.
Skill Upgrades
- Demolition Charge – Activates a 10-second Detonation Charge that goes off after 30 seconds.
- Blazing Spear – Flamethrower-like weapon that ejects a concentrated spray of high-pressure fire.
E-Pulse Troopers
E-Pulse Troopers have a much higher rate of accuracy compared to ordinary Rifle Troopers, and their bullets are significantly more destructive. In addition to that, their electromagnetic abilities are well tuned.
Ability
- Rifle Overcharge – Increases damage, rate of fire, and armor penetration for a brief period of time, albeit at the expense of a 10-second cooldown on weapon use.
Skill Upgrades
- Battery Flashbang – Stuns a small area with a single shot.
- Light the Way – Ignores all vision-damping abilities but at 20% less rate-of-fire cost.
Fleet Liaison
There can only be one Fleet Liaison deployed at a time, as they are effectively a one-man army. This guy can hold the front lines, but he needs help. He’s good for his abilities, but doesn’t fight well.
Ability
- Assign Dropzone – Call in reinforcements by setting up a temporary Dropzone.
- TAC Strike – Sends a group of bombing fighters towards a specific direction.
Skill Upgrades
- Marines Drop – Calls in a Marine squad at a predetermined area.
- Orbital Strike – An orbital bombardment is summoned and spread out across a specific area.
M-11 Marauder
Armored Mechs like the M-11 Marauders can take a hammering and dish it out, thanks to their Gatling rifle, Flamethrower, and Howitzer weapons. Tank-like vehicle that goes at a higher rate of speed.
Skill Upgrades
- Mortar Barrage – Calls for an Artillery Bombardment in a specific location.
- MX-113 Incendiary Drop Charge – Drops a Demolition Charge at the current location, which unleashes a searing AOE assault.
MK II Troopers
In comparison to Rocket Troopers, MK. II Troopers are a significant improvement. Although they are less accurate than Rocket Troopers, they are excellent in combat situations involving gunfire.
Ability
- Fragmentation Barrage – Offers support for indirect fire at a predetermined location.
Skill Upgrades
- Flak Grenades – A type of aerial grenade that inflicts damage on air forces over a rather large area.
- Ripper Blast – Performs a Volley in a Conical area.
Powered Suit Troopers
When it comes to raw power, there’s no match for the Powered Suit Troopers! You’ll have the extra Fire Power you’ll need to take on the toughest foes.
Ability
- MX90 Grenade – Throws a grenade that, after three seconds, detonates inside a certain area. Can put neighboring Bugs into a daze.
Skill Upgrades
- Morita Mk. III “SAW” – In exchange for reduced mobility, the unit can fire a powerful automatic weapon.
- Twin-Rocket Pack – Fires a Rocket in a straight path, requires a clear LoS.
- Engineering Tools – Grants abilities similar to the Combat Engineers.
Radio Operator
Radio Operators are one more way to give your troops a helping hand. There is little else to say about them other that they are good for communicating and obtaining Dropships.
Ability
- Assign Dropzone – Makes a temporary Dropzone to call in reinforcements.
Skill Upgrades
- Dropship Fire Support – Summons a Dropship to rain hell on the Arachnids for a short amount of time.
- Inspiring Broadcast – Grants increased the rate of fire at the expense of attracting more Bugs.
Rifle Troopers
It’s literally the most basic infantry unit in the game: Rifle Troopers. In general, they’re good for the first few waves, but they have a hard time dealing with tougher Bugs.
Ability
- MX90 Grenade – Fires a grenade that explodes in a narrow area three seconds after being thrown. Stuns Bugs in the vicinity.
Skill Upgrades
- Shotgun Suppression – A closer-range attack will inflict more damage.
- Boom Bundle – Flings an ammo pouch full of Grenades in the air. Comparatively, it has a smaller range than the Main Ability.
Rocket Troopers
As their name suggests, these soldiers are armed with rocket launchers, which are capable of inflicting a significant amount of damage on enemies.
Ability
- High-Explosive Warhead – Fires a Rocket that devastates everything in its path, but is rendered useless against Armored Arachnids because of its weakness to armor.
Skill Upgrades
- Canister Warhead – An explosive that has a large blast radius yet is useless against armored arachnids.
- Firestorm Warhead – Sends out a projectile that ignites a ring of fire around it, destroying whatever it comes into contact with.
Snipers
When it comes to dealing with low-class Arachnids and completing stealth missions, Snipers are your best bet. They have excellent shots and can kill insects with an incredible level of precision.
Ability
- Action Mode – Gains a higher rate of fire and enhanced movement speed at the cost of a decreased range.
Skill Upgrades
- Crippling Shot – Attacks the Weak Spots of the Target and has the Potential to Stun Periodically.
- Sensor Flare – A distraction device to draw enemy attention that will also lift the fog of war.
Tactical Officer
Tactical Officers are extremely powerful units that are capable of doing a significant amount of damage in a short amount of time. They also provide aid by supporting the Troops on the Field, buffing up your Rifle Troopers.
Ability
- Designate Target – Marks a location where enemies who pass through it incur more damage.
Skill Upgrades
- Aggressive Tactics – Increases accuracy, armor-piercing damage, movement speed, and the Unit’s XP gain by a significant margin.
- Defensive Tactics – Boosts a unit’s fire rate by three times and makes them immune to suppression at the same time.
