How to defeat Mutated Jack Krauser
At the first part of the fight, Krauser will still be in his normal human form, and he will be unloading his firearms at your direction. Use the walls and pillars as cover, especially when he fires his explosive arrows. Find windows to return fire to stagger him and force him to come near you.
Once he’s at the same level as yours, he will start using his knife. Unlike before, Krauser is much faster, able to move side to side so quickly that he can avoid your shots. It’s best to prepare to parry his slashes instead and go through the button-mash standoff to get an opening to counterattack. Using your shotgun is also effective, as its bullet spray will leave Krauser no room to evade, plus it can stagger him easily for you to do your melee kick. After taking enough damage, he will throw a flashbang and retreat to a safe distance.
Unlike in the original game, you will not have to look for insignias in this remake. The next part will have you go through the ruins, but it is still filled with booby traps. Look out for trip wires and bear traps that you can disarm by shooting. There are also ceiling turrets that shoot at you, so shoot at them back to destroy them. As you go through the traps, be on your toes, as Krauser can still ambush you and shoot shots at you.
Once you get through the traps, you’ll arrive at a higher level where Krauser is waiting for you from a distance. You will have to cross over to the other side, but you will be pelted with shots, so you will need to move from cover to cover whenever you see the opportunity to do so. As you arrive at the other side, Krauser will throw grenades, so stay clear first before proceeding.
In the next area, it will be another one-on-one encounter against Krauser. Shoot him down first so that he will be on the same level as you, then fight him using your knife or your gun.
After taking enough damage, Krauser will then mutate his left arm and grow a bone blade from it. He will jump from a higher level to slice you down, but it also breaks the floor, sending you into the dark ruins. In here, you will have to make your way out of the ruins while evading from Mutated Jack Krauser’s ambushes.
Once you’re up the tower, the drawbridge to your exit is being lifted and Mutated Jack Krauser catches up to you with his other arm transformed into some kind of gauntlet. This arm can block bullets and grab your head. If you get caught, you can break free by stabbing Krauser. His blade arm’s slashes and stabs can also be parried. Be careful when he jumps up on a ledge to do another ground pound; it’s best to stay clear of the middle of the arena for this attack.
Keep focusing on evading and parrying his attacks, then counter with your guns to stagger him for a melee attack when it’s safe to do so. Once his health is gone, a cutscene will play showing Leon dealing the killing blow to Krauser. You will get Krauzer’s fighting knife as a reward for the fight.
