Diablo IV Players Shocked to Learn of Requirement to Play Season One

New Diablo IV players are now horrified to learn of a requirement for them to follow in order to play Season One content of the game.

    Diablo Seasons Means New Characters

In previous Diablo entries, each new season meant a new character to create. This is called a Seasonal Character, which is different from the character that players start with for the campaign. And yes, this is part of the feature of the Diablo games as this allows players to create various types of characters and try out different classes as they go through new seasons. Since Diablo IV is the first Diablo to have a Battle Pass, it offers a different kind of experience with new content to try out each season.

    New Diablo IV Players Horrified

This has now shocked new players of the Diablo franchise as they dread that they would have to create a new character from scratch in order to play Season 1. They were able to learn about this in a new post by Diablo Development Chief Rod Fregusson on his Twitter account to confirm this.

Hey Paul, yes to take part in the seasonal questline, mechanics, season journey and battle pass, you will need to create a new seasonal character. Playing campaign with seasonal character (if you so desire or need to finish) will also progress the season journey and battle pass.

    — Rod Fergusson (@RodFergusson) June 19, 2023

“To take part in the seasonal questline, mechanics, season journey, and battle pass, you will need to create a new seasonal character,” Fergusson said. “Playing campaign with seasonal character (if you so desire or need to finish) will also progress the season journey and battle pass.”

Newbies are now complaining that they will have to start from scratch and do not have enough time to play the game all over again. Some complained that their old characters are basically useless now since they have to make new characters to play new seasons.

Old Characters Not Lost Just That…

Fergusson assured the new players that they can still play the old characters. They still need to complete the campaign which gives them the advantage of skipping the campaign with the new character for Season 1. They will not need to go through the campaign if they want and focus now on the new seasons.

Also, the original characters are actually not lost with the launch of Season 1. They will just be moved to the Eternal Real, which is a version of the game without the content from the latest season. This will also happen with the other Seasonal characters from old seasons, which will let players continue their adventures if they want but they will not enjoy the new content added in newer seasons.

New Season, New Class or New Build

Seasonal characters also have a purpose. This allows players to explore other classes and create new builds for a whole new experience. They do not need to complete the campaign all over again so they can just explore Sanctuary, explore dungeons, defeat world bosses, and more without worries.

Diablo IV is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
