How to upgrade Tools in A Wonderful Life
Most of the regular tools that you have can be upgraded into their Copper, Silver, and Gold quality, with each upgrade allowing you to do more for less amounts of stamina or make certain animations faster. Out of all the 8 tools, only the Camera and the Brush have no available upgrades.
To unlock the tier of upgrades in Van’s shop, you will need to meet two requirements: a total number of tool usage, and getting to a certain year.
For the usage requirement, you must have used your tools a total number of times; this amount is shared amongst all the tools within the same tier for a certain group, i.e.: using the watering can 200 times, hoe 100 times, and sickle 200 times will suffice to unlock the copper tier of upgrades for the aforementioned tools.
As for the year requirement, you can unlock the higher tiers once you have progressed and reached certain in-game years:
- Copper tools – Can be unlocked within Year 1
- Silver tools – Can be unlocked within Year 2
- Gold tools – Can be unlocked within Year 3
Once the tier upgrades have been unlocked, you can then purchase the tools from Van, with each tier upgrade costing more than the previous tier:
- Copper upgrade cost – 1,000G/tool
- Silver upgrade cost – 10,000G/tool
- Gold upgrade cost – 50,000G/tool
