Remnant 2 The Dark Horizon DLC Release Date Announced

Developer Gunfire Games has announced the third and final major DLC for Remnant 2, The Dark Horizon. The update is expected to be on September 24, 2024, and it will cost $9.99. Players who have already purchased the game’s Ultimate Edition will have access to the DLC on launch day at no additional cost.

The developers have also added a new Boss Rush game mode with the DLC. Finally, players will no longer have to trek across the open world to challenge and, hopefully, unlock alternate rewards from world bosses. Additionally, a new system called, Prisms, will become part of the game. This features allows players to rebalance fragments and level them up to grant more stat bonuses to gear.

    The Dark Horizon

“Return to N’Erud and uncover a mysterious place preserved in time, where alien farmlands are tended by robots for inhabitants who have long since perished. But time corrupts all, and rogue AI and robotic creations threaten at every turn while you search for the secrets of the colossal entity that dominates the skyline.”

This is how Gunfire Games describes the storyline while teasing the new Archetype: The Warden.

“In a brand-new storyline, you must uncover the secrets within the necropolis world of N’Erud. As you enter this new overworld, you will explore new dungeons, experience a new glider traversal system not found in other worlds, acquire powerful gear—including a new Archetype, “The Warden”— meet unexpected allies, and face new threats as you set off to defeat the colossal entity that watches over N’Erud!”

    Boss Rush Mode Announced

As stated earlier, Boss Rush will allow players to get the mundane stuff out of the way and go straight to the boss battles.

Players can choose from three difficulty options after accessing the mode through the World Stone in Ward 13 and selecting Boss Rush.

    • Triple Threat: Three-boss run
    • Trial by Fire: Seven-boss run
    • Gauntlet: Nineteen-boss run

Your objective in this game mode: to earn elusive drops, including weapons you may have missed during the campaign. But to get those rewards, you will have to fight off hordes of enemies, Aberrations, and finally, the feared boss fight. But worry not, players may earn temporary buffs during the run that grant stat bonuses and/or powerful passives that will prove useful in the challenges ahead.

Remnant 2 is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam & Epic Games Store).
