Keiji Inafune, Comcept’s founder and producer to the Mega Man, Onimusha, Dead Rising and Lost Planet series announced that Mighty No.9, the spiritual successor to the Mega Man series, will be delayed once more.
Mr. Inafune explains that the reason for the delay is due to bugs inside the network modes, and specifically problems with matchmaking. He tells us that there are two reasons for this, one of them being the large number of platforms supported (the solution for each platform is slightly different) and the other stems from the fact that the engine we are using is no longer being updated which means adjustments for matchmaking and online code are being made manually (actually reprogramming parts of the engine by the dev team themselves). He also tells us that this was a result of a miscalculation on the part of the development staff.
The original release of the game was supposedly set on April 2015 but was delayed to February 2016. More details can be read in the Mighty No.9 main website
