Everything We Know So Far About Season

Season, the second game from Scavengers Studio, is shaping up to be a unique experience that very few games can replicate. From what we’ve been told, it’s about going on a bicycle trip around across new locations, and appreciating every single little thing… before the end of the World?

I must admit the premise alone is intriguing. Because the knowledge that the events and the cultures, and even the wildlife we observe along the way, will shortly no longer exist. Curious still, the world is shrouded in mystery with it being eerily similar to the mid-twentieth century and yet thousands of years have passed without any change.

The heavy, yet hopeful game is set to release on Playstation and on PC via Steam. No release date has been confirmed yet.

    About the Game

Season is a third-person atmospheric adventure game. You play as a young woman from a secluded village exploring the world by bike for the first time, collecting artifacts and memories before a cataclysm washes everything away.

Season is a quest to discover a new world; one unknown yet familiar. You will be immersed in different cultures as they live their last moments. Document, photograph, and record life as you find it, while you still can. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let yourself be carried away on the extraordinary journey of Season.

As the writer and creative director, Kevin Sullivan said he’s excited to present the long gestating project.

We’re dizzily excited to share the world of Season with the with the world of the real world. Just as the character in the game makes a cultural collection, the itself has been that for us. It has absorbed our worries about the state of the planet, our joy at living on it, things we’ve seen, people we’ve loved and lost, all tied together into something, hopefully, beautiful, and strange.

    – Kevin Sullivan

    The Story

Document, photograph, draw, and record life. Through a solitary bicycle journey, form your own memories, your own vision of the world around you. Your goal? Protect these treasures from being forgotten. Your quest will lead you to discover a new, unknown world, and yet oddly familiar. You will be immersed in different societies what will make you discover the mysteries of the world of Season; a surreal version of the mid-twentieth century, where thousands of years have passed without any progress. Find out what caused the last collapse and what might cause the next one.

    Through your journey:

    • Experience a touching story as you witness the last breath of different cultures
    • Meet a diverse cast of characters on your way, who will change the course of your story
    • Explore a beautiful and poetic fantasy world
    • Collect artifacts, make recordings, and discover the secrets of the world of Season
    • Wind your way through stunning landscapes on your bicycle

Since the game’s announcement last December 10th, 2020, there have been little in terms of updates from Scavenger Studio.

With the latest being an interview with 80LV where members of Scavengers Studio talk about Season and about the idea behind it.
