A Way Out is just around the corner and I can’t wait to get my hands on this game. Although the concept of a co-op game has already been done in other games, this will be the first time that a game plays co-op all the way through. So before the game releases, let’s talk about the things to look forward to in this game. There hasn’t been much info about the game so I’m just going to base it on what we know so far. So here they are in no particular order.
An Exclusively Co-op Only Game
As I mentioned earlier, even though the concept of a co-op game has already been done in games like Resident Evil 5 and 6 or Dead Space 3. This will be the first game of its kind where the entire game is purely co-op. Like you can’t really play this game alone, you need to have someone with you playing the game all the way to the end. Whether it’s online or offline. I’m curious as to how this will work out and how seamless the online co-op is going to be. I just hope it won’t be bogged down with connection issues.
You Only Need One Copy to Play with a Friend
While this is understandable if you are playing offline, what makes this particularly interesting is when you have to play with an online friend. According to the game’s website, you just send your friend an invite and they will be able to unlock a free trial of the game. Once that’s done all your friend needs to do is download the trial and then they can play the game with you.
The Story
It’s like Prison Break in a form of the game. Probably more intense. There is not much to know about the story of the game. We just know that it’s about breaking out of prison. In time we should be able to learn more once the game arrives but I am excited as to how it all plays out and the things that will happen should they get out of prison. We had several gameplay trailers showing us of the things that they did do outside of prison but as much as how the story goes there is still a lot to learn and discover.
The Gameplay
The gameplay is definitely what’s the most exciting about this game. Not only is this a co-op only game. The game actually lets you and your partner do things independently. The seamless gameplay where one of you are in a cutscene while the other is dealing with a situation that’s entirely independent of the other is something that has never been done in other games. Usually, a cutscene during a co-op game means both of you would have to look at the cutscene. But in this game, each individual is definitely not experiencing the same things. Although I think a snippet of this happened in Dead Space 3 where one of the characters was going through an entirely different scene than you did. We will have to wait and see how this works in A Way Out.
There are other possibilities to look forward to in this game and the options are endless. For now, I will just wait in anticipation as the game arrives this week. How about you guys? What do you look forward to the most in this game? Sound off in the comments!
