AMD’s Latest Tech Demo Showcases the Capabilities of FidelityFX

AMD’s newest graphics card is out and about — the AMD Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT. With the latest RDNA 2 architecture that powers the next-generation consoles – the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, AMD is pushing to compete toe to toe with Nvidia’s RTX graphics card line-up.

In the age of realistic volumetric light and real-time reflections, ray-tracing is the key to enhance your visual gaming experience. The AMD Radeon RX 6000 series is the first graphics card line-up of the brand to support ray-tracing.

To even excite players more with AMD FidelityFX, the tech demo video below showcases this astonishing feature titled Hangar 21:

The demo showcases how studios can take advantage of these mutliple methods to achieve photo-realism visuals without sacrificing performance. With the combination of rasterization, compute effects, and ray-tracing, all of these combined can create mind-blowing visuals in today’s games.

It’s exciting to see such innovation AMD has brought to the competition. Having the feature fairly new to AMD’s latest graphics cards, it might take a while for developers to implement this to their current games as current ray-tracing techniques are heavily optimized to Nvidia’s RTX cards. Fear not, AMD will catch up really soon.
