Best Group Compositions in Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry

With the new Legend reworks, there is a chance the meta shift in ways we didn’t think are possible. Though we still have our bets as to which remains a must-have pick on most teams. (We’re looking at you, Octane.) Regardless, here are all the team compositions we predict are going to be effective with the new rework.

In this list, we’ll go through some team compositions your team can consider with the new Class changes in mind. And as a friendly reminder, all compositions work to a certain degree in Apex. It’s just that some compositions work better with less effort in team play.

Every Team Running with a Support

Yes, it’s not going to be a stretch to say that you will be seeing more support characters in your lobbies from now on. The whole idea behind this Class rework is to encourage players to think about team composition.

With the recent changes to the Support class, a team with either Gibraltar, Lifeline, Loba, or Newcastle is a safe bet for keeping your team in the match. The new craftable thing also puts a bit of pressure on the one support thinking of bringing back their Wraith allow before they decide to disconnect from the match.

    Any composition with Valkyrie

Valkyrie will remain a top pick in competitive. She just brings so much to the team. Her Ultimate allows the team to zip across the map and the cooldown is still manageable after the nerf. Plus, it doesn’t really matter what the other players choose, her high mobility makes it so that she is usually the one who sets the pace of the engagement.

Defensive Triple Threat (Catalyst, Caustic, and Wattson)

Controller Legends are going to be hugely influential in the meta of Season 16. With Caustic being a top pick at the professional level and Catalyst being a sleeping S-tier pick, there’s no telling what kind of damage this team is capable of. Add Wattson in the support role and you’ve got a team that’ll be nearly impossible to dislodge from a position.

We don’t envy the team that has no choice but to push an area covered in fences, spikes, and gas traps.

    The Meta (Valkyrie, Gibraltar, Caustic)

ALGS 2022 official stats revealed that Valkyrie, Gibraltar, and Caustic dominated the competitive meta. Combined, the three Legends had a nearly 50% pick rate across the board. This is insane when you think about all the other legends you see on a regular basis.

It might not really work out in a public game but it can work with a team of friends in constant communication.

Team Full Send (Octane, Horizon, Pathfinder)

Three of the most mobile Legends in one team. Not an uncommon sight in most public games. But in this season, it serves more than just a fun option. With Horizon’s change to her kit, rapid upward movement was gained at the cost of weapon accuracy. It’s a small price to pay for getting on top of Construction on the double.

And with the buff to Pathfinder, getting around the map is going to be a breeze. It’s not very often that Octane is slower than his teammates but it just goes to show the power of burst movement as a whole.

    The Classic (Bangalore, Wraith, Gibraltar)

A balanced composition slightly geared towards the offensive. This is a year zero original comp way before the Apex Games nearly doubled its roster. And with the changes to two of these Legends, there is this level of explosiveness that was once missing.

If nothing else, these are the Legends one has access to from a free-to-play account. It’s a good starting point for rookies.

Team Top Pick (Octane, Wraith, Pathfinder)

According to Apex Legends Status, these three Legends are the top three in terms of popularity in Season 15. This makes sense when you think about it. Octane, Wraith, and Pathfinder all function independently of the team 99% of the time. So why not have a team that does its own thing and only ever comes together when one member of the team is currently in a battle against a full three-stack?

It’s not the most practical but who’s to argue with the numbers? They already appear in a good amount of games, might as well go all in on the idea.

    Advanced Scouts (Bloodhound, Vantage, Ash)

Until we know the full extent of the nerfs placed on Seer, it might be better to look for another dedicated Scan Legend in the meantime. Thankfully, Ash (under the right conditions) can fulfill that role. And all she needs to do is interact with a death box. Bloodhound’s change sounds exciting but without knowing full well where the enemy is most of the time, it feels like our team will be following a White Raven into an ambush.

This might take some time to get used to the new Bloodhound. In the meantime, Ash and Vantage will be doing the heavy lifting from short to long range.

    Team Fun (Lifeline, Mirage, Rampart)

Mirage and Rampart are two of the most fun Legends to play in the entire game. The same also goes for Lifeline but ever since they removed the shield and gave it to Newcastle, it’s been rough for her. Rampart plays the role of the glue Legend holding this entire team together.

If nothing at all, we have to try out the new Mirage rez and see if we can actually make it work. 3 seconds is enough time to run away and more than enough to aim a weapon at an unaware enemy.

And that’s it for this list. Hopefully, our predictions, including our Apex Legends Season 16 Character Tier list come through and we can all look forward to a defensive meta at last. (It probably won’t happen though.)

Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry is coming to PC (via Steam) and all mainline consoles starting on February 14, 2023. Check out the trailer here.
