Armored Core 6: How to Beat Sea Spider Boss in AC6

Sea Spider is one of the bosses in Armored Core 6. It appears at the end of Chapter 2. Sea Spider is quite a mobile boss that has overwhelming attacks. It also has a devastating special attack that is almost guaranteed to destroy any AC that gets hit with it. Read ahead as we share some tips and tricks on how to defeat Sea Spider in Armored Core 6.

AC6: Sea Spider Boss Fight Walkthrough

Sea Spider appears at the end of the Ocean Crossing mission in Chapter 2. It has two phases, and it enters its second phase once its health is down to 50%. During the first phase, it stays mobile on the ground, and in the second phase, it hovers up into the air.

Sea Spider has different weapons, including its legs, which it uses to deal physical damage. It has head-mounted lasers that can shoot with three different attack patterns, another laser gun that shoots smaller shots, and a missile array.

    Sea Spider Attack Patterns

Sea Spider has several different attack patterns. Here are some of the tells to look out for and some tips on how to avoid them:

    First Phase

    • Laser Shots – Sea Spider shoots out several laser shots towards your direction. They have little to no tells, but it can be easily avoided by constantly strafing and they don’t deal as much damage.
    • Missile Barrage – The boss shoots out a barrage of missiles up into the air that land after 1-2 seconds. Keep strafing to one side once you see them fly up to avoid getting hit.
    • Two-Shot Laser Beam – The boss shoots out two large laser beams from its head. It has minimal charge time, so strafe to the side once you see its head light up, then look out for the next shot.
    • Vertical Laser Swipe – The boss charges up its laser and shoots a beam from side to side. This has a similar charge up mechanic, but pay close attention to where its head is pointing. If it points to one side, then time your jump towards where the laser came from to clear it.
    • Horizontal Laser Swipe – The boss chargers up its laser beam and shoots it from the ground to the sky. When avoiding this attack, continue moving to one side throughout the attack as Sea Spider will be able to still turn its head towards you as it shoots its laser.
    • Pounce – The boss jumps from a distance and pounces on your location. Depending on how far the boss is from you, it can do a small pounce or a long pounce. To avoid both pounces, you will need to dash under the boss during the right moment; for the longer pounce, the boss will hover a bit to the side first, follow it to that side to shorten the distance between you, then dash through.

    Second Phase

    • Laser Spray – Sea Spider will shoot out a spray of lasers at you. Keep strafing to avoid getting hit.
    • Floor Blast – The boss will shoot a laser beam to the floor, igniting it with Coral. Jump up and hover as soon as you see the laser to avoid the Coral energy damage.
    • Spinning Charge – This is Sea Spider’s deadliest attack. Its legs start charging up with energy while they spin around its body before charging to your direction. Because of the speed and the amount of spinning that happens, you won’t be able to outrun or charge through the attack. As soon as you see the legs charging up, fly as high as you can away from the direction it is heading to clear the attack.

    Sea Spider Boss Fight Tips

    • It is recommended to fight Sea Spider within mid range to close range to mitigate damage taken and to optimize the damage dealt to the boss. Because of some of its attacks being almost unavoidable, you will have to make sure to do enough damage to the boss to end the fight quickly, or else it will be able to whittle your health down if you take the defensive route.
    • Positioning yourself underneath it during the first phase will force it to not do its head laser attacks often. It is also vulnerable on its top side, but be aware of your booster energy and only reposition above after the boss does its major attacks.
