The Chamber of Strategy is a location that can be found within the Wyrmway in Baldur’s Gate 3. In this chamber lies a giant chessboard, or lance-board, as it is known in Faerun. The black king must be defeated in just a few turns to pass this challenge, or else a trap will be triggered. Read ahead as we share the solutions for the Chamber of Strategy in Baldur’s Gate 3.

    Chamber of Strategy Solutions

As you enter the Chamber of Strategy, you will see a statue of Balduran to the right and a giant chessboard up ahead. Approaching the statue will reveal the objective to solving this puzzle: you must place the king in a checkmate just within two turns.

Chamber of Strategy Standard Chess Solution

You may encounter different board configurations within the chamber; there are at least 2 configurations. In both of these configuration, you will only need to move the queen to solve the challenge. Follow the steps below depending on the starting position of your queen piece.

    Queen at A6

Queen at A6 - BG3 Chamber of Strategy Standard Chess Solution

For the Queen starting at A6, move the piece all the way to H6 to take the pawn. The King will move to G8, then you can move your Queen to G7 to take the other pawn and cause a checkmate.

    Queen at F6

Queen at F6 - BG3 Chamber of Strategy Standard Chess Solution

For the Queen starting at F6, move the piece to H8. The King will move to E7, then you can move your Queen to D8 to cause a checkmate.

Additionally, if you have Gale in your party, approaching the statue will cause Gale to tell you how to move your Queen to solve the challenge, regardless of its configuration.

    Chamber of Strategy Lightning Solution

The other solution for this chamber is to attack the Black King piece with any strong Lightning spell to destroy it in one hit. This still counts as a win and you can proceed to the next chambers.
