Bluepoint Games Is Already Working On A New Remake

Bluepoint Games, the studio behind remasters such as God of War Collection and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, has successfully shown its capability to remake great epics like Shadow of the Colossus on the PS4; and the game got massive praise from both critics and gamers alike. Now, rumor has it that the studio is currently developing another remake of a game. It was first spotted with the new job listing that indicated the word “remake”.

Digital Foundry, Eurogamer’s tech division, spoke with Bluepoint Games in a special video interview. When the studio was asked if they would utilize the art team for an original project, the studio’s president, Marcus Thrush, said, “Well, we could but we’re doing another remake. This project served us as a great point of growing the art team to the point where we can take on a full triple-A game major scope of art content. So now our next step is, let’s improve the art pipeline, let’s improve the engine, let’s improve workflow for artists, let’s grow on the art side some more to handle our next project because it’s a bit bigger. And our next focus is, all right, let’s work on design and add new stuff to get to the next remake, because now that can be our sole focus of making sure that’s where we put the time and everybody else, they’re already at a level where we can perform.”

Noting that this in-development remake is a “bit bigger”, we could only speculate a lot of things. Metal Gear Solid, perhaps? Unlikely since the license is still owned by Konami. There are tons of classics that would make the cut such as Syphon Filter and ICO. It’s too early to tell but as time passes, we could probably get a glimpse of this new remake this E3 2018.
