Days Gone Game Director Disappointed Sequel Could Have Released Last Month

Sequel ain't happening after Sony rejected Bend Studio's idea of a sequel.

Game Director Jeff Ross recently dropped a statement in response to the PlayStation Showcase.

The PlayStation Showcase event concluded recently revealing tons of new games and a few surprises for fans of PlayStation. Overall, the feedback from the reveal was positive, but there were a few who expressed their disappointment with the showcase. One of them was Days Gone Game Director Jeff Ross who was bummed after watching the event.

Ross said that he was disappointed that a sequel of their successful title Days Gone would have launched last month if they had “just stuck to their guns”. Sony Bend wanted to develop Days Gone 2 right away after the big success of the original game, but the platform holder SIE had other plans. Now, it is too late for them.

Last year, Ross shared the same sentiment about Sony’s rejection of their idea of creating a sequel. He said that if the sequel got approved, he would have added more systems. “Systems are very simple. And if they’re simple, they can be elegant and very rich for the player. I knew adding one or two more layers to the systemic elements of it would have been something that we could have wrapped our heads around, it would have led to a ton of richness for the players and a ton of unique open-world moments and responses that we haven’t seen before. Let’s sink our teeth into this and do something even more epic.”
