Dead Cells DLC Fatal Falls Officially Launching Later This Month

Game companies Motion Twin and Evil Empire have announced that the upcoming downloadable content for video game Dead Cells called Fatal Falls is coming later this month.

The Fatal Falls DLC will arrive on January 26 for only $4.99 on PC and consoles. The new trailer features the DLC’s the new deadly enemies, new weapons, and two entirely new biomes. It will be the 22nd major update for the award-winning video game and only the second paid DLC since its initial Early Access launch in 2017.

To celebrate the DLC release, the game developers have announced preorders on a newly announced bundle and discounted prices across all platforms, which will start later this month.

There is a 33 percent off preorder discount now available for the newest bundle, Dead Cells: The Fatal Seed Bundle for fans on Nintendo Switch priced $19.99. This bundle will also be on sale for 33 percent off across all platforms starting January 26 for only $19.99. It will include previous 20 free game updates plus the two paid DLCs, The Bad Seed and Fatal Falls.

For interested newcomers and veterans of Dead Cells, the developers also announced several additional discounts starting January 26 into mid-February. Specific dates for these deals will vary slightly per platform so make sure you check your preferred digital platform for the precise details:

    • First-ever 50 percent off the base game ($12.49) is a superwicked deal for fans interested in checking it out for the first time
    • 33 percent off Dead Cells: The Fatal Seed Bundle ($19.99) for those looking to go all the way
    • 30 percent off The Bad Seed DLC – never discounted before – ($3.49)

The Fatal Falls DLC will introduce a lot of new content for fans like the two new mid-game biomes, a new boss, and a lot of new weapons and items. The trailer showcases these new biomes called The Fractured Shrines and The Undying Shores with the new boss called The Scarecrow. Fans may recognize this as the Royal Gardener but has become corrupted with Malaise.

The new biomes are similar to the Stilt Village, Clock Tower and Time Keeper areas and are intended as alternate paths to make the mid-game runs interesting. These new paths will introduce a chance encounter of a homicidal pet sword and slightly psychotic enemies like the Myopic Crow, the Clumsy Swordsman, the Compulsive Gravedigger and more. It will then culminate with the final boss The Scarecrow.

The new maniacal sword is designed to bring Brutality players a real counterpart to the Great Owl and Mushroom Boi. Scythes have been added too. There are seven new weapons in total: Lightning Rods, Ferryman’s Lantern, Scarecrow’s Sickles, Iron Staff, Snake Fans, Seranade, and Cocoon. Each one will help players in different areas of the two new biomes. There are also 10 new outfits to check out.

Update 21, the Malaise Update, has changed the way the late game mechanics work. The Malaise Update will be released on consoles in February. It is currently available on PC.

Dead Cells is now available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
