Game publisher Deep Silver has officially confirmed upcoming zombie apocalypse video game sequel Dead Island 2 is still in development.
In a statement provided to media outlet GamesRadar+, Deep Silver has officially confirmed the zombie game that everyone thought that got dropped is still in development. “We have confirmed that the game is in active development, and will share more details once we are ready,” the representative said.
There have been reports recently about Dead Island 2 being revived and could be launched within this year. These reports seem real now with Deep Silver’s statement. Since it is in active development, it is possible a gameplay trailer is now in the works and could be released later on.
So, how did Dead Island 2 start? It began with Techland, yes, the guys who developed the Dying Light series. They passed it to Yager after Techland decided to make Dying Light 2. Unfortunately in 2015, Yager shut down for some reasons and then development continued with Sumo Digital and then to Dambusters in 2019. It has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride, but it seems everything moving along.
It has been eight long years in the making and hopefully, this time around, it will be released.
Dead Island 2 confirmed in development. No word on the official release window or platforms.
