Kojima Productions head says the upcoming Death Stranding movie will be for everyone and not just for gamers only.
Death Stranding Movie Not Usual Movie Adaptation
Hideo Kojima recently spoke with the media outlet IGN in an interview discussing various topics like their new studio, the sequel Death Stranding 2, and more. One of the things they talked about was the recently announced Death Stranding film that will be based on their game, but at the same time, it will not be an adaptation. At least that is what Kojima is trying to say in the interview.
Reason for Movie Adaptation Failures
Kojima explains that previous movies that adapt to the story of the games will only cater to gamers since they are the only ones that could understand it. He thinks this is the reason for its failure at the box office. He does not want his upcoming movie to be like that.
“… I’m taking the approach of changing and evolving the world of Death Stranding in a way that suits film well,” Kojima says. He also says that he made Death Stranding to be a game, and games are games. “There’s no real need to turn them into films.”
Going for Another Path
Kojima promises that his Death Stranding movie will take a different direction that nobody has tried before with a movie adaptation of a game. This just meant it will be a movie that takes the elements from the Death Stranding game and will stand on its own. It will not follow everything from the game as it takes its own form.
The Death Stranding movie is still in its early stages.
