Don’t Own A PlayStation 4 Yet? It’s The Best Time To Get One

It’s clear as the water you’re drinking today, if you have not owned Sony’s current generation console yet, you should start considering in getting one.

I know what you might be thinking at the moment: this dude is just biased, a corporate shill, clouded by his fanboyism without considering to have this article to be as objective as possible. Let me stop you right there, first in foremost, I own all three consoles: a PS4 Pro (recently upgraded from my PS4 this month), an Xbox One, and a Nintendo Switch (which I also got this month aside from the PS4 Pro). I don’t consider myself any of those. And no, I’m not starting a “debate” of some kind.

Dating back to 2013, when the PlayStation 4 was announced and also launched in the same year, Sony marketed the PS4 to be for the players and leaned towards on placing the consumers’ convenience when it comes to gaming over the high-security solution like DRM and the always-online route – that would affect the base and most important experience of playing video-games on a console. But that’s the only a fraction of it and simply not the main reason why you need to get one now. No. It’s the games, the current PS4 library, is what makes it an excellent choice this coming Christmas, and if you want to ask your parents or your wife (or husband) and if you don’t own a PS4 yet, then I tell you to get a PS4 – or better yet, a PS4 Pro if they can (or if you can) afford it.

Everyone on the middle side who’s reading this is probably tired of the “exclusive games” argument for the past few years. I hate to break it down to you, but it’s the truth. Since 2013, Sony has been racking up great video-games and experiences that every gamer wants. You have a post-apocalyptic open-world role-playing game with dino-mechs in Horizon: Zero Dawn, the best open-world action and the visually impressive Infamous: Second Son, a linear cinematic single-player experience like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, a classic platformer rebooted with a graphical overhaul like Ratchet & Clank, a visual-candy first-person shooter that showcased the PS4’s power with Killzone: Shadow Fall. Then you have compelling upcoming exclusives like God of War, Detroit: Become Human, and Spider-Man next year (even possibly Death Stranding in Q4 2018), and The Last of Us Part II really soon.

I can go on with the list of games that PS4 has to offer, plus the third-party titles that are also on the other platforms, it clearly shows that PS4 has the upper hand and is the practical choice – that is, again, if you don’t own one or if you don’t have any consoles yet.

Then you have the cheapest and accessible, and also simple to setup, virtual-reality headset the PlayStation VR (PSVR). Considering PSVR’s low price tag, one can obviously expect that it’s nowhere near as powerful as the HTC Vive or even the Oculus Rift. But two things are for sure: it’s affordable and it can bring one of the best VR experiences and games. Look at Resident Evil 7: biohazard. It might not be an exclusive VR title, but it took the PSVR’s capability and delivered one of the most scariest VR titles to date. Then there is that 15 to 20 minutes Star Wars X-Wing VR experience on Star Wars Battlefront, this blew everyone’s mind away and wanted to have an actual full-launched title exclusively for VR. And lastly, you have one of the most immersive experience first-person shooter with Farpoint which utilized the PlayStation VR Aim controller.

Granting Xbox One X’s recent impressive launch last month and also Nintendo Switch earlier this year in March, the PS4 has everything that first-time console owners need: the great library of games (both exclusives and third-party), VR, a mid-generation upgrade that supports 4K, and great online experiences (massive playerbase). The PS4 is the practical and best choice to get this Christmas if you don’t own one or if you’re a first-time console buyer.

It’s the best time for you to get a PS4 right now.
