Woodland Wordsmiths is one of the pawn specializations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and it allows pawns to be able to understand the Elvish language, potentially opening up opportunities when dealing and interacting with elves. Read ahead as we go through the steps on how to unlock the Woodland Wordsmiths specialization in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to unlock the Woodland Wordsmith
The Woodland Wordsmith specialization can be unlocked from using the Woodland Wordsmith Tome given by any of the elf NPCs in Sacred Arbor. For our guide, we will focus on two NPCs: Grisha and Kough. Grisha can be found in Grisha’s Armory within the village of Sacred Arbor, while Kough can be found inside Kough’s Inn.
To get the Woodland Wordsmith Tome from Grisha or Kough, you must gain their favor and raise their affinity with you. This can be done by giving either of them a Bunch of Flowers as a gift once a day for a total of three in-game days. On the fourth day, talk to her again and they will give you the tome. You can also give them any other valuable items as gifts such as a Jasper; the higher the value, the more likely you’ll raise their affinity faster.
To make a Bunch of Flowers, you just need to combine two different types of flowers from these three options: Sunbloom, Noonbloom, and Moonglow.
How to use the Woodland Wordsmith Tome
After obtaining the Woodland Wordsmith Tome, use it from your inventory and choose the pawn that you want to teach the specialization to. Once done, any Elvish text that you see will be automatically translated as long as the pawn remains in your party. Voice lines in Elvish will still remain untranslated.
Learning Elvish will prove helpful especially when you reach Sacred Arbor as you can then talk to NPCs like Doireann who can give you a special quest.
