Dying Light 2 Devs Reveal Size of Map in New AMA Episode Video

Techland Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektala recently shared some very interesting details about the upcoming video game Dying Light 2.

The video started with Smektala revealing that over 9,000 questions were sent to their studio and they chose the ones that appeared frequently. He also thanked the fans who sent them and continue to support the studio.

One of the questions that Techland was asked was about the size of the game’s map. This was revealed in the past, but he repeated this again in this video saying that it is double the size of all of the maps in the original game combined.

“You just take the slums, the old town and you double the number,” Smektala said. “That’s roughly the size of the game space in Dying Light 2.”

For those who really want to know the exact number, it is more than six square km big. Almost seven square km. Also, the verticality of the game is quite big as well. “Imagine there are hundreds of buildings and each one of them has at least a couple of floors. There are even skyscrapers, there are roofs, bridges, all of that stuff.” From that, everyone can at least imagine how big the actual space players will be playing in.

Smektala also teased that there are new types of infected in the upcoming sequel. They will drop a full reveal of the new types of infected at a later date so he is not at liberty to tell more details.

Dying Light 2 is coming to PC and consoles. No official release window yet.
