E3 2017: Sony’s Press Conference Run Down

Sony just wrapped up their press conference, and what a conference it was. First off, besides heavy hitting announcements, this was definitely a conference that set the bar in terms of production value. They opened again with live music to set the tone and ambiance, but not only that, they had on-stage water effects, falling snow, and actor zombies hanging from the ceiling. Sony definitely upped their game of delivering a premiere E3 experience.

Now, on to important matters: the game announcements. Sony filled their conference to the brim with announcements and gameplay demonstrations. Below is a quick run down of all that was shown during the conference.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

The conference opened up with a brand new trailer for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a stand alone title in the Uncharted series. The trailer showed the two main playable characters, Chloe and Nadine. Although they are working together, it seems there’s more to their working relationship and it’s not all friendly. It’s slated to come out on August 22, 2017.

Horizon Zero Dawn – The Frozen Wilds DLC

Next, a trailer Horizon Zero Dawn DLC, while magical snow falls upon the audience. The trailer introduces a new area and story for the successful PlayStation IP. It seems that the game’s heroine is looking for answers within the titular area and will face a new threat that is guarding it. The DLC is set to come out sometime later this year.

Days Gone

Right after, we were shown brand new gameplay from Sony Bend’s upcoming title Days Gone. The gameplay showcased how you’re going to explore the distraught open world and ways to take out threats you’ll encounter along the way. No release date was shown.

Monster Hunter World

Shortly there after, Sony unexpectedly announced Monster Hunter WorldMonster Hunter is back on Sony systems, specifically the PS4. The trailer showed new gameplay elements to the franchise, such as stealth/camouflage and new ways to track down monsters. It’s been a long time coming, but the wait won’t be for much longer. Monster Hunter will be coming to your PS4 in early 2018.

Shadow of the Colossus

Another unlikely announcement, Sony brought back a fan-favorite franchise that was beloved when it came out on the PS2: Shadow of the Colossus. It’s shaping up to be a remake from the ground up for the PS4. Details are still pretty scarce for now, but we can expect the game to release in 2018.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

Next, we got a new story trailer for the upcoming fighting game, while also getting glimpses at new characters. Characters that can be seen in the trailer are Dante, Black Panther, Thanos, and more. At the end of the trailer, they announced that you can download a demo of the story today. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite comes out September 19th, 2017.

Call of Duty: WWII

Afterwards, we got a brand new trailer for Call of Duty: WWII, which revealed the multiplayer gameplay. All the gameplay shown was in-game and looks to bring back the classic Call of Duty gameplay, so no more double jumps and exosuit agumentations. Call of Duty: WWII is set to come out later this year, November 3rd.

PlayStation VR Titles

Next, we got an onslaught of new titles heading to PSVR. The titles shown were, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim VR, Star Child, The Inpatient, Final Fantasy XV: Monster of the Deep, Bravo Team, and Moss. All can be seen from the clip out of the Sony press conference above.

God of War

Afterwards, we were given a new story trailer for God of War, which also featured new gameplay. The trailer showed new enemies and gave details regarding Kratos, his son, and the new world the game is set in. Although these details are vague and scarce, it seems Kratos is in a different realm from the Greek Gods, yet people are still aware of his past. The game is expected to hit PS4s in early 2018.

Detroit: Become Human

Next, a brand new character trailer was shown for Detroit: Become Human. The trailer shows the Adnroids making a revolt against the humans. The trailer also showed gameplay, which revolves around the palyer’s choice and how it will affect the outcome of the story. No release date was given.

Destiny 2

Second to the last, a brand new Destiny 2 trailer was shown. The trailer showed Dominus Ghaul, leader of the Red Legion, and his on humanity’s last city. There will also be exclusive content for the PS4. Destiny 2 comes out on Septmeber 3rd this year.

Spider-Man

Lastly, Sony capped off the conference with an extensive gameplay demonstration of the upcoming exclusive: Spider-Man. It demonstrated a mission where you are infiltrating a gang called the demons. The combat shows inspirations from the Batman: Arkham games, but with a Spidey twist. Again, there isn’t a concrete release date for the game, but you can expect it in early 2018.

The Sony E3 Press Conference was certainly a ride that was on full throttle and didn’t make any stops. Although there weren’t any announcements to be released later this year, 2018 is certainly shaping to be a jam packed year for Sony, and the fans.
