Sidequests are often one of those activities that are fun to do despite being unnecessary for the game’s progression. However, because of this, developers often have a habit of putting all the blitz and glamour in the game’s main story quests. This makes sidequests in most games to feel like a toned down version of the game’s overall quality.
But fortunately that isn’t the case for the remake of Final Fantasy VII.
Tetsuya Nomura, Square Enix’s Lead Character Designer, was in an interview with Famitsu the other day to talk about this.
The sub-quests have been made in exactly the same way as the main story quests. Initially, the development team also wanted to create a large volume of content, but it was not possible to do all of it, so we are doing as much as we can while maintaining the quality.
Considering that Final Fantasy VII Remake is around 100GB worth of storage, one has to expect that the developers gave it their all for the upcoming game. Especially since the Final Fantasy we’re getting this April 10 is only the first installment that only takes part in Midgar rather than the entire 1997 game.
To put into perspective, the original 1997 Final Fantasy only had us playing in Midgar for a little over a few hours. Which is too short of a game to justify the 100GB of space that comes with it. One has to expect the entire city to have been re-made and fully explorable with the size.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is releasing this April 10 exclusive to the PS4.
