Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is here, and with it comes the new Iki Island expansion, exclusive to the Director’s Cut edition. Iki Island packs in 15 hours of content featuring a new island and a new enemy type. Here is your guide on how to handle the slippery shaman.

How to Defeat the Shaman, A Formidable Foe

Iki Island’s newest enemy is the Shaman, a spear-wielding foe that will sing and buff all enemies on the battlefield. Enemies buffed under a shaman’s song will deliver undodgeable attacks with higher frequency, have more health, and have incredibly high poise.

Frustratingly enough, the shaman likes to stand far away, even farther away than archers at times, meaning that you could easily be overwhelmed by enemies in an attempt to take down a Shaman. Here are some tips to best deal with the shaman:

When infiltrating a fort, always hunt down the Shaman first. If things go south and you have to fight many enemies in a Mongol base, at least the shaman has been defeated.

Don’t forget your kunai! It’s easy to feel hopeless when you have to claw through a horde of enemies just to get to the shaman, but your handy kunai will clear the way so you can beeline it to him.

Develop the moon stance tree. Shaman are spear wielders which means they are weak to the moon stance; make sure you beef up this stance before undertaking Iki Island, or else you’re sure to have a more challenging time with this DLC.

That is how you defeat the Shaman in Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Iki Island DLC. We also made a comparison between the PS4 and PS5 Performance Mode if you’re interested to check it out.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is going to be available on August 20, 2021, for PS5 and PS4.
