Microsoft’s platform has gotten a slow year when it came to exclusives in 2017 but these games did show a tremendous amount of entertainment. Halo Wars 2 was a big step-up to the franchise with all of its improvements from the first Halo Wars game. Then we got Forza Motorsport 7 and Cuphead the last quarter of the year with Voodoo Vince and Phantom Dust taking the spotlight mid-year.
As we approach the months of 2018, there are a few games announced to launch later this year exclusively for the Xbox One system. It’s only been a few months since their behemoth and powerful 4K mid-generation upgrade, the Xbox One X, and gamers are already excited to play juicy exclusives on the system.
Rare’s Sea of Thieves is a sight for sore eyes as the beta gave a lot of us convinced that this pirate-inspired action-adventure is actually going to be fun. With its release slowly closing in this month, March 20 specifically, I’m personally excited to get my hands on the game and continue where I left off in my beta experience – plus, I’m going to get that astonishing Xbox One Sea of Thieves controller.
Sumo Digital’s Crackdown 3 is getting a lot of marketing and hype especially with Terry Crews involved. Indie studio Odd Tales’ The Last Night, when it was announced as an Xbox One console exclusive, the 2D visuals approach in a cyberpunk setting is like playing Altered Carbon, the newest cyberpunk Netflix series, in retro style. Finally, Undead Labs’ State of Decay 2, the most awaited sequel of the successful State of Decay, is finally getting a 2018 release year. As Microsoft continues to retain its core multiplayer feature of the games they supported, State of Decay 2 is going to make people excited for what it has to offer as a zombie open-world game. These games, on the other hand, does not have any set release dates yet, and there is still that possibility of delaying them – or worse…
E3 is coming, and hopefully, Microsoft will have tons of surprises for Xbox One owners. Let’s wait and see.
