Guerilla Games recently shared some details about the upcoming DLC Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores.
The developers were asked how they take advantage of the PS5’s power to develop Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC. According to them, since they will now be focusing more on the PS5, they could just “charge forward” in development and not worry about optimizing the DLC for the PS4. They will be able to pull off creating the post-post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles.
The developers revealed that the cityscape ruins of LA and its surroundings are highly detailed and those need a lot of processing power and fast streaming technology to run properly. These could only be done with the PS5 hardware. Aloy will flying over the lands and can see a lot at once so that will need a lot of power to make it look super detailed.
Guerilla Games also teased that there is a particular battle scene that will need a lot of memory and processing power. It seems this will be a major scene of the game and will include numerous character models in it. The PS5 hardware is the only one that can process all of that effortlessly.
Horizon Forbidden West is out now on PS4 and PS5 while the Burning Shores DLC launching on April 19, 2023.
