Italy, the second country to be affected the most by the NCov 2019 Virus or the novel Coronavirus, is now at lockdown. The citizens are just staying at their homes. What do they do to stay entertained? Play more online games, of course!
Italy gets Big Internet Traffic With Virus Outbreak
Even though the news about NCov 2019 is very depressing for the Italians, the internet services providers of the country are now facing a different type of crisis. Currently, it is gaining 70 percent surge in internet traffic and most of that is due to online gaming. So many Italians are just playing online games like Call of Duty and Fortnite to get them distracted from this disaster. Also the office workers are now working at home and the use of online programs for conferences and businesses are rising as well.
Telecom Italia Chief Executive Officer Luigi Gubitosi has this to say:
We reported an increase of more than 70% of internet traffic over our landline network, with a big contribution from online gaming such as Fortnite. Telecom Italia’s network is working perfectly and with higher volumes compared with previous days. The issues reported affected just some applications and the internet due to a failure of the international network.
With the Coronavirus looming in other countries as well, it is more likely that this type of situation will be happening soon as well. Remember guys, stay indoors, keep healthy, and just keep playing until this blows over!
