The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Finally Gets a Release Date

It’s official. The highly-anticipated Lord of the Rings TV show will premiere later this year exclusively on Amazon’s streaming platform Prime Video on September 2, 2022.

Amazon had a teaser trailer uploaded and what gets me is it’s made using practical effects with minimal CGI:

According to the video description, the story is set thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, giving the viewers the chance to see the era of The Rings of Power and how it paved the way for the events of J.R.R Tolkien’s amazing epic.

While we will not see a lot of familiar faces, the TV show will certainly feature a few characters known to fans and a few new faces.

“Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth,” based on the description. “From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

I’m personally excited to see the first episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power later this year, and as a massive fan of the franchise, I’m hoping to see some cameos from the film.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere its first episode on Amazon’s Prime Video this September 2, 2022.
