Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Character Swapping is Instant and Unlimited

The map is also way bigger than the original!

It was recently revealed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will allow players to control both Peter Parker and Miles Morales throughout the adventure. It is through this partnership between the two that there is a certain feature that makes it easier to control them.

During the PlayStation Showcase, a game demo of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was shown revealing that players could control Peter and Miles by switching between them. Peter’s gameplay was shown in one part in which he wore the “Black Suit” while in another part it switched to Miles which showed his new powers and gadgets. The switch between the two characters was smooth and instant, which begs the question: will the final build of the game have the same and in the open world?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Character Swapping

Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed with Eurogamer that players can indeed switch between Peter and Miles instantaneously and it will be unlimited, well unless in certain scenes. “When you’re playing the main story, we control when you switch between Pete and Miles… it’s done in service to the story when we’re making those switches, for sure,” he says. “You’ll be able to – in the open world – freely switch between them with a simple button press.”

Intihar also revealed that switching between the two Spider-Men actually has a reason to do so. “We have content designed around Peter, we have content designed around Miles and we have content where you can play either,” he said. He also added that the game will feature unique and shared skill trees for both of them.

Bigger Map Than Prequel

In another interview, it was revealed by the same man, Intihar, that the map of the sequel will be roughly twice the size of the one in Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It will now have Queens and Brooklyn included. He also teased that there will be new activities to complete like battles using the river that runs between the neighborhoods.

Intihar told Famitsu this: “We’ve added Queens and Brooklyn to the map, which makes it roughly twice the size of our previous work. These two neighborhoods are a bit smaller and more residential, so they have a different charm than Manhattan. We have prepared some unexpected situations that we have never seen before, such as battles using the river that runs between the neighborhoods, so please look forward to them.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches exclusively on PS5 later this year.
