In a new interview by Entertainment Weekly, a screenshot of the powerful and wild Venom was featured which has not been seen in other social media platforms yet. It shows this monstrous anti-hero in all of his glory with the iconic spider symbol, the hulking large body, and his large mouth with a long tongue slithering about.

This new screenshot image seems to be featured to hype up the upcoming Comic-Con panel handled by Insomniac Games happening tomorrow. The picture can be viewed above.

What Makes Venom Different from Spider-Man?

Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar told Entertainment Weekly in this interview that they feared casting the role of Venom due to his importance in the story. They were also wary of the opinions of the fans when they see and hear of this character. They wanted the perfect voice actor for the job and it seems they found the perfect person for it, Candyman (2021) actor Tony Todd.

“Everything we talked about [with] Venom — that sense of strength, that sense of fear, that sense of overwhelming, so different from Peter — Tony embraces that completely in the performance,” Intihar says.

Senior Art Director Jacinda Chew spoke about what makes Venom different from Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. “It’s really interesting when you start thinking about what makes him different than Spider-Man,” Chew says. “The symbiote is often known as an allegory for the darkness that the host is fighting against. So what makes him an anti-Spider-Man?”

“We wanted to try something very different, and I don’t think you can get much more different from Doc Ock than you do Venom,” Intihar explains. “It’s about power, it’s about strength, it’s about being slighted, it’s about Peter being involved much more in the creation of Venom. I think that’s what attracted us.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20, 2023 exclusively on PS5.
