Nintendo, Please Stop With The Ports

It’s been years since Skyrim since last showed itself to the world, but it’s still releasing for the newest of consoles. It’s the same with Doom, Wolfenstein 2, Fortnite, and DragonBall FighterZ. We already have them from different consoles, do we really need them on our beloved Nintendo Switch?

Wait. What am I talking about? OF COURSE we want them on the Switch. What’s not to like playing these amazing games on the go (laying on the bed), and at any time (on the loo doing your business)?

Now, the real problem here isn’t about them amazing ports – it’s about bad ones and cash grabs. You know, like WWE2k18. I don’t know about the game’s status now, with updates and all that, but when it released, it got this reputation of being barely playable on Nintendo’s hybrid. If publishers are going to release ports on a new system, with fans and owners hungry for games, don’t you think it would be better for them to at least polish their games? Even just a little? Actually make that into almost-perfect.

Others would say, “if you know the port’s garbage, why waste money on them?” Well, I’m not saying this for myself, I’m saying this on behalf of the people who wanted to play a game on the go, only to realize they got something that’s not even worth buying. They’ve been bamboozled by trailers and promises from developers saying the port runs fine, then forgets that their game still exists and never releases a patch.

More mobile games are also coming to the Switch. Could we get a quality check on that? Sure there are good ones, like the upcoming Arena of Valor, but a lot (and I mean A LOT) of the ports are total trash.

Also, what about those Wii U remasters? Could we just please let them go and just build new ones already? Juuuust kidding – I know it’s Nintendo’s way of reselling old Wii U games to their new Switch market. Can we at least get them at lower prices instead of the full 60$?

I guess what I’m trying to say is, it’s clear why ports are coming to the Switch. People want on-the-go gaming, developers want more money by selling their games on the newest popular hardware, you know, the basics. But, I’d hate to break it to you, some games just can’t run fine because the hybrid system isn’t that powerful.

It’s okay to want games releasing on the Switch, too. It, however, is NOT okay to release half-assed versions of them. So stop it with the (bad) ports, or just don’t push them. Simple. Still, Hello Kitty Kruisers FTW. Sarcasm, btw.
