Nintendo recently responded to yesterday’s biggest and most unfortunate announcement by PlayStation regarding their latest line.

A Nintendo representative has recently spoken with media outlet Eurogamer to discuss their answer to PlayStation’s biggest announcement this week: the PS5 price increase. They have assured its consumers that it had “no plans to increase the trade price of its hardware”.

Nintendo shared a full statement which includes a quote from Company President Shuntaro Furukawa and reiterated that prices will be staying the same for now. Note, FOR NOW.

“As our president Mr. Furukawa stated at the 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in June:

“‘While we cannot comment on pricing strategies, we currently do not have any plans to change the price of our hardware due to inflation or increased procurement costs in each country. We will determine our future pricing strategies through careful and continued deliberations.’

“While the final price to consumers is always determined by retailers, as Mr. Furukawa stated, Nintendo has no plans to increase the trade price of its hardware.”

Recently, Microsoft also shared its own statement regarding the PS5 price hike. They have also assured everyone that it will not increase the prices of the Xbox Series X/S. “We are constantly evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options.”
