If you’ve been around my group of friends long enough, you’ll never hear the end of how they’ll pay to watch a series of their favorite games. For those who are fans of either Overwatch and/or Diablo, they might have something to look forward to soon! We may have evidence that a cartoon for Overwatch and an anime for Diablo may just be on the verge of being announced.
President of the film and TV division of Activision Blizzard, Nick van Dyck, has confirmed that he has worked on both the unannounced shows in his LinkedIn profile.
Admittedly, this isn’t really concrete evidence that we should expect animated shows of either Overwatch or Diablo. But it does look pretty hopeful that Blizzard will eventually announce the projects officially (if they really are in the works). It would make sense to produce animated films of both games, seeing as Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 are in the works as we speak.
We can hope that Blizzard will pull this off without any further backlash. Currently, the publisher is in hot water right now with the fans thanks to the disastrous Warcraft 3: Reforged. An animated film of both games may just be what they need to salvage their image and thus raking in more profits for Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4.
