PlayStation 5 Will Still Focus On Story-Driven Single Player Experiences

God of War Kratos

If you’re worried about the PlayStation 5 turning out to be a console for live-service games to flourish, Sony has assured us otherwise. This next generation console will focus on bringing us strong narrative driven exclusives, particularly that of the single player kind. What PS5 is aiming for is much like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, God of War and Marvel’s Spiderman which have helped the PS4 success in no small part.

We’re very committed to dedicated hardware, as we were before. We’re gonna continue to do that. And we’re very committed to quality exclusives. And to strong narrative-driven, single-player games.

Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Worldwide’s Studios

However, Hulst did also mention that there is some room for “innovation” regarding the exclusives, whatever that could mean. Regardless, it’s comforting to know that the PS5 will have no shortage of amazing single player games that won’t contain the usual predatory business practices.

But will that be enough for you? Will single player exclusives really make you choose the PS5 over the Xbox Series X? Stay tuned for what Sony has to say in the coming months that will help you make a decision.
