The smallest of mistakes can lead to the biggest leaks. This is especially true for PlayStation, who just confirmed Leon Kennedy’s involvement for the upcoming Resident Evil 9 Requiem via an artwork that just showed his face.
Leon Kennedy Confirmed Via Cover Art for Resident Evil Requiem
If you don’t know, Capcom has been very coy about who’s actually involved in the latest Resident Evil. Considering that the game takes place in Racoon City once more, many fans have already deduced that fan favorite, Leon Kennedy, will be making a return. And after months of speculating and Capcom denying his involvement, we finally got a confirmation that he is coming back thanks to PS5 users in certain regions getting a glimpse of a new artwork that features an image of an older, more jaded looking Leon S. Kennedy in the background of the game’s cover.

Now it’s fair to be skeptical. After all, the image could be doctored. However, multiple news sources online, particularly IGN, have confirmed that the cover art is real. Resident Evil fans from certain regions around the world were able to see the cover art on the pre-download screen after purchasing the standard edition of the game from the PlayStation Store.
No doubt the man in the image behind Grace Ashcroft is nonother than Leon S. Kennedy himself. There’s no mistaking his iconic hairstyle and fashion sense when it comes to his jacket of choice. Though, he looks a lot older and now sports an unshaven beard.
After all the effort that Capcom went through to keep it a secret, a simple cover art spoiled his appearance just a couple months before the game’s release this February 27, 2026. If this leak wasn’t on purpose to garner online interest in the game before the release, they can’t be too happy with PlayStation for this little accident.
Leon Might Be Playable in Resident Evil Requiem
There has been speculation that there will be two playable protagonist. Many speculate that this second protagonist will be Leon himself. Though as to how large his involvement would be something we have yet to see. He may just have a small section of the game dedicated to playing as him much like Chris Redfield was in Resident Evil 8 Village.
Playing as Leon could give us all a much needed break from the horror elements of the game. While we’ll be playing as Grace, who is much less experienced in dealing with the horrors of the game, Leon is more familiar and in his element. Roundhousing a zombie is a regular Tuesday for him, after all.
