Ranking The God of War Games From Worst To Best

In just about three weeks, we will finally get our hands on the latest God of War game which takes place in the Nordic mythos. A world that will be so different from the God of War games that we were used to. Before we get to that though, let’s see how the God of War games stack up as we rank them from the worst one to the best there is. This list will include all of the God of War games that have been released so far including the ones that came out for the PSP. Let’s get to it.

    6. God of War: Chains of Olympus

This was the first God of War game that came out for the PSP. Although the game was lauded for keeping to the game’s violent nature, the main problem about this game was that it was just too short of a game. Clocking in at just less than four hours, this was probably the shortest out of all the God of War games there was. Also the fact that nothing new was really introduced to this game, it merely is just a port of a God of War game to the handheld.

    5. God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Whatever was not implemented in the first PSP game, they refined it here. This delivered the best graphic there was for the handheld system and it helped us delve into Kratos’ mortal past. We also get to battle the God of Death, Thanatos, in this game.

    4. God of War: Ascension

Sometimes being the latest game doesn’t mean it’s always the best. By the time God of War: Ascension was released people were already over all the repeating combat and all the same button smashing that Kratos had to offer. We did get to experience new abilities like rewinding time but gamers everywhere just wanted something fresh and new.

    3. God of War

This may be the first game that launched the entire series but I feel like because of how awesome the rest of the series came to be in terms of gameplay and combat and overall graphics, this falls behind the games that follow. Though the world was first introduced to its visceral gameplay on this one, what the next few games have offered has proven that as time goes by this game just keeps getting better and better.

    2. God of War 2

God of War 2 definitely delivered in upstaging the first game with all the carnage that took place. Memorable encounters with the Colossus of Rhodes, the Kraken and the final showdown with Zeus made this game so much more satisfying than the first one. This is probably the best looking game on the PS2 which makes it a must-have and a must-play for those who have heard of it and has been following the series.

    1. God of War 3

And finally, the best game of them all was God of War 3. This was Kratos’ last stand against the Gods of Olympus. Battling foes like Hermes, Hercules and of course Kratos’ father Zeus. And who could ever forget that epic opening as Gaia helped Kratos get up to the Mountains of Olympus. This was by far one of the grandest most epic God of War game ever made that we might as well just forget that Ascension ever happened and just think that we have the newest God of War to look forward to.

So there you have it. What do you think of our rankings? Do you have a different list in mind? Let us know in the comments!
