Remedy Entertainment, the development studio behind Control and Alan Wake, has released a new gameplay trailer for its forthcoming cooperative first-person shooter, FBC: Firebreak. This three-player experience is set within the narrative universe of Control, where players assume the role of the Federal Bureau of Control’s specialized response unit, Firebreak, tasked with the containment of escalating paranatural threats.
The premise of FBC: Firebreak centers on the Oldest House, the Bureau’s dynamic headquarters, which has fallen under siege by a persistent paranatural force. Firebreak, identified as the Bureau’s most adaptable response unit, is entrusted with the responsibility of restoring order to the besieged location.
The trailer provides an initial glimpse into the cooperative gameplay mechanics and the nature of the threats players will encounter.
Scheduled for launch in the summer of 2025, FBC: Firebreak marks a significant milestone as Remedy Entertainment’s inaugural self-published title. The game will be available for PC, as well as on Xbox Series X|S and PS5. FBC: Firebreak will also be available on day one through PC Game Pass, Game Pass Ultimate, and the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog (Extra and Premium).
FBC: Firebreak is structured as a session-based, multiplayer PvE experience, emphasizing intense cooperative action within the established Control narrative framework. The game features a series of highly replayable missions, designated as Jobs, each presenting distinct challenges, objectives, and varied environments that necessitate teamwork and adaptive strategies among players.
The recently released trailer showcases one such Job, titled Paper Chase. This mission depicts an initial outbreak of anomalous sticky notes within the Executive Sector of the Oldest House, which subsequently escalates into a significant paranatural crisis. Players are required to progress through three increasingly challenging zones, culminating in a confrontation with a substantial manifestation of these anomalies.
Prior to commencing a Job, players will select a Crisis Kit, which dictates the individual Firebreaker’s playstyle. These kits provide access to specific weaponry, specialized tools, and potent reality-bending augmentations that can influence the outcome of a mission. The initial Crisis Kits available to players include:
- Jump Kit: Characterized by electricity-based abilities, emphasizing field control and enhanced mobility.
- Fix Kit: A kit focused on heavy impact-based attacks, featuring a large wrench as a primary weapon.
- Splash Kit: A water-based kit specializing in the manipulation of battlefield conditions and providing support to allied players.
Remedy Entertainment has indicated its commitment to the ongoing support of FBC: Firebreak through post-launch content. All future playable content, including new Jobs, will be provided to players at no additional cost. While cosmetic items will be available for optional purchase, these items will not confer any gameplay advantages, and the game will not incorporate limited-time rotations or daily login requirements. Further details regarding post-launch content are expected to be disclosed at a later date.
FBC: Firebreak is expected to launch in Summer 2025 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and will be available on Xbox and PC Game Pass day one!
