Resident Evil 3 Remake – An Original Feature Won’t Be Coming Back

If you’ve played the original PlayStation 1 Resident Evil 3, then you’d remember the ability to make certain choices depending on where you are in the story. Fight Nemesis head on or run into the police station? Hide from Nemesis before ambushing him or jump out the window?

Well that adrenaline induced decision making, called “Live Selection,” won’t be making a comeback in the remake.

During an interview, Co-Producer Pete Fabiano explained this more in detail. Fabiano mentioning that this was a decision made from the director himself for the sake of consistent story telling.

The director wanted to tell a consistent story with Jill, and how she and Carlos overcome Nemesis and eventually escape Raccoon City. We just wanted to keep it cohesive, so that you’ll have a singular, more consistent narrative throughout.

Previously in another interview, Fabiano also confirmed that the remake will not have multiple endings, unlike the original. With the absence of multiple endings, it would explain why they decided to get rid of Live Selection.
