How to defeat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake
The Osmund Saddler final boss fight will be divided into two phases, keep these tips in mind to easily defeat Saddler:
- Shoot his weak points which are his eyes.
- Saddler also has additional eyes on his front legs which can be shot to make him stagger and fall down.
- You can also use objects in the environment like gasoline barrels and cranes to stagger Saddler.
- Be careful of the bridges that connect the two halves of the arena, as they constantly switch up and down.
- Use evade to timely dodge swings and avoid being grabbed by Saddler’s tentacles, or the poisonous substance that it emits.
- It takes only a couple of direct hits on Saddler’s main eye to trigger Ada to throw a rocket launcher for you to pick up, which you need to do so quickly.
- Once Saddler is defeated, Ada will throw a key to a jetski for Leon to use to escape the island. You will have to weave through the river while avoiding obstacles and making sure that you get out of the island in time.
Phase 1
As Leon and Ashley attempt to escape the secluded island, they are stopped by Osmund Saddler who wants to eliminate them himself. Leon then saves the tied-up Ada and proceeds to confront Saddler who then turns into his mutated form, with an eye growing inside his mouth and additional appendages growing out of his body.
Like many other bosses, Saddler has weak points which are his eyes. Aside from the one in his mouth, there are also eyes on his front legs. These eyes are usually shut, but once they open up, shooting them will make the boss stagger and fall down. At this point, the eye in his mouth will become vulnerable and you can shoot it to deal damage. Saddler can also summon flying creatures to help him, but it’s best to ignore most of them and kill only those close to Leon.
Aside from your guns and grenades, you can also use objects in the environment to stagger Saddler. There are barrels of gasoline that you can shoot to make them explode once the boss is near them. These barrels are effective even if none of his eyes are open. There are also levers on top of platforms on both ends of the arena. Pulling these will make the cranes carrying beams swing and hit the boss, causing Saddler to get staggered. You will have to wait for the boss to get on the main platform where you are on before pulling the lever to make sure that the beams hit.
One other thing to be aware of with the arena is the two bridges that connect the two halves. These constantly switch up and down, and if you are caught crossing it as it drops down, you will need to do a QTE to make Leon hang on to the bridge and climb back up the platform.
During the fight, maintain a safe distance from Saddler to avoid his charges and regular attacks. Shoot the big eyes on his body, but only when they’re open. After destroying several eyes, Saddler will collapse onto the arena. Quickly run up to him and use your knife to stab his central eye.
Phase 2
In the second phase, the combat area is very limited, and Saddler will have two types of attacks: horizontal sweeps and vertical strikes. You must avoid Saddler’s horizontal sweeps and vertical strikes at all cost by dodging while shooting the core of the boss with any weapon.
It should just take a couple of direct hits on Saddler’s main eye to trigger Ada to throw a rocket launcher for you to pick up. Just make sure to have enough slots in your inventory to be able to pick up the weapon. Once you have it, aim at the boss and fire. You don’t have to wait for any of its eyes to be open. Once the shot connects, the boss goes down and dies through a cutscene.
Saddler then drops a sample of the Plaga, but just as Leon picked it up, Ada threatens Leon with a gun to hand over the sample to her. Leon complies and Ada flies away in a chopper, but not before activating the explosions set in the island and tossing over a key to a jetski for Leon to use. You will only have less than three minutes, so make your way to the lift to grab Ashley and head over to the jet ski. You will then have to weave through the river while avoiding obstacles and making sure that you get out of the island in time. The scene then ends with both Leon and Ashley escaping and the credits start to roll.
