Read ahead as we go through the fight against Verdugo in Resident Evil 4 Remake and share some tips and tricks to make the fight easier.
How to Defeat Verdugo
After Leon survives Ramon’s trap in the Salazar Castle, Ramon sends one of his Verdugo to hunt Leon down in the underground cellars and sewers. During this encounter, Leon has to make his way back up to the castle in order to rescue the captured Ashley.
Once you regain control of Leon, you will have a head start from being caught by the Verdugo. Follow the sewer until you arrive at the generator room. In here, you can activate and call upon the elevator for your escape, however it will take time before it can be operational. There is also another passageway that gets shut off once the elevator is called and it doesn’t open up until a few seconds after, so better not forget to interact its panel as soon as you can.
At this point, the Verdugo will be able to catch up. It can either attack from the grates on the floor or from the ceiling. Pay attention to the QTE whenever it launches an attack so that you can dodge them. Once the Verdugo decides to show itself, it will continue hunting you down.
You can’t do much damage to it unless you freeze it by tipping a tank of compressed gas when it comes close. It will be staggered for a few seconds and it will also become vulnerable to attacks; unload your TMP or use your rocket launcher to deal a lot of damage. Keep moving through the underground passageways and you’ll find more tanks; there are only a limited number of tanks, so make them count.
Once the Verdugo has been defeated, you can continue up the elevator to get back into the castle.
Another option to get through this encounter is by simply biding your time until the elevator becomes available. You will have to keep the Verdugo at bay for at least 4 minutes by freezing it and dodging its attacks. This is especially helpful if you think that you won’t have enough bullets to kill it.
