Resident Evil: Resistance – Not Canon

Timeline is a fickle thing when it comes to continuity. Writers on board quite often change their mind about what really happened in the franchise. You’ve seen it happen in Star Wars The Force Unleashed when Disney took over. And what is canon has been changed multiple times in different titles. But right now, Capcom is outright confirming before even release that Resident Evil: Resistance is not canon.

If you haven’t heard, the Resident Evil 3 remake is to come with the multiplayer expansion, Resistance. The 4 versus 1 multiplayer is said to be impossible to fit into the current Resident Evil timeline. This was confirmed by Peter Fabiano, the producer for Resident Evil 3, in an interview with PlayStation Magazine. The producer then went on to say that this online multiplayer experience is simply for fun of the players.

If there is any way to describe Project Resistance, it’s that it is Saw-like with Left 4 Dead vibes. Four people are trapped trying to survive against the twisted malicious mastermind by beating him in his own game. The mastermind, also being a player, can summon, set traps, and even take control his own monstrosities. The 4 players against him also have their own special abilities and must cooperate in order to better the chances of survival.

Project Resistance is to release this April 3, 2020 along side the Resident Evil 3 Remake. Stay tuned for more horror here at Sirus Gaming.
