Rise of the Ronin offers a unique multiplayer co-op experience that stands out in Team Ninja’s previous titles. In most games, the competitive multiplayer mode gets more emphasis; however, Team Ninja favors the adventure in the spirit of living history. Read ahead as we teach you how to unlock multiplayer and play co-op with friends in Rise of the Ronin.
How to unlock Multiplayer in Rise of the Ronin
Co-op multiplayer in “Rise of the Ronin” centers around a location known as the Longhouse, which acts as your home base. At its core, here is where players host co-op sessions with friends or other players, manage things, and change their appearance.
To unlock the Longhouse and have access to multiplayer, players must progress through the early stages of the game. The Longhouse is first unlocked in Yokohama and later becomes available in Miyozaki, after specific story events related to characters like Taka Murayama and Ryoma Sakamoto.
How to play co-op with friends in Rise of the Ronin
Once the Longhouse is unlocked, the “Cooperate” option becomes available. This tab offers three main features:
- Join – Jump into a random player’s mission for assistance.
- Recruit – Start or replay a mission, opening it up for others to join you.
- Match – Create or join a lobby with specific conditions, like difficulty level, region, and password.
To play with specific friends, you can use the recruit or join options. When recruiting, you can set the mission specifics and set a password to make sure they’re the ones who join your session. Up to four players can participate in a single co-op PVE mission, but this does not include PVP modes.
