Rocket League To Officially Become Free-To-Play This Summer 2020

Game company Psyonix recently announced that popular video game Rocket League is going free to play later this summer.

The upcoming free to play game update will be the biggest one yet for the title and will include major changes to the Tournaments and Challenge systems. Cross-platform progression will be added as well for players’ item inventory, Rocket Pass progress, and Competitive Rank by linking to an Epic Games Account.

Epic Games Store will welcome the game when it goes free to play. It will be the same version on other platforms and will feature cross-platform play with all others.

When the game goes free to play, anyone who already owns it on any platform (including the Steam version) will be able to play the game with full support for future updates and features. Steam will no longer be available to download for new players as the game leaves this particular platform.

Perks for having played the game online before it becomes free to play:

• All Rocket League-branded DLC released before free to play
• “Est. 20XX” title that displays the year when the player first started playing Rocket League
• 200+ Common items upgraded to “Legacy” quality
• Golden Cosmos Boost
• Dieci-Oro Wheels
• Huntress Player Banner

Players who played the game before the announcement will get an extra item, the Faded Cosmos Boost. It will be awarded to player accounts when it becomes free to play.

More information will be released in the coming weeks. The game is now available on PC via Steam (for now), coming to Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
