Sony Makes Strategic Investment of $250 Million to Acquire Minority Interest in Epic

In a recently released press statement by both companies, Sony Corporation and Epic Games, Inc. have announced that Sony has agreed to make a strategic investment to acquire a minority stake in Epic.

The amount for the strategic investment is exactly $250 million so that Sony could acquire a minority interest in Epic. This makes their close relationship even stronger and strengthens their goal of improving state of the art in technology, entertainment, and socially-connected online services.

Sony Corporation Chairman, President and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida stated:

Epic’s powerful technology in areas such as graphics places them at the forefront of game engine development with Unreal Engine and other innovations.
