Nintendo has recently released its Splatoon 3 Direct Livestream and shared tons of details about the upcoming sequel.

The Splatoon 3 Direct has recently concluded and it has revealed tons of new stuff that fans will be hyped about. The Livestream highlights include new levels, new weapons, and an all-new approach to Splatfests.

Splatfests will be coming back to Splatoon 3 and it will include the three-way fights. The matches will be split into two halves with the first part a traditional 4v4 face-off while the second one will be a 4v2v2 fight for territory.

Fans will be able to try this out this coming Splatfest World Premiere on August 27, 2022. This will be available during the free demo for a limited time only. The demo will premiere on August 25, 2022, which gives players a chance to practice for this comes out.

Players will be able to try out some new features in Splatoon 3 too including the new moves like Squid Surge. It allows players to speed up in ink-covered walls while in squid form. Squid Roll allows players to dive out of ink with a small window of invincibility as they repel ink.

There is a new background and player hub to choose from with Splatoon 3 set in Splatsville, which is a new urban city that looks like Hong Kong. Players will be able to find familiar vendors where they can purchase gear. Arms dealer and horseshoe crab Sheldon is back again to offer weapons for sale. Earn Sheldon Licenses first before players could unlock them in battle.

There will be new weapons to check out and one of them includes the bow and arrow set. There is also a weapon called a Splatana, which looks like a katana and can throw paint at long distances and can also be a melee weapon. There are new special weapons like the Tacticooler, Wave Breaker, and Reef Slider.

New maps got revealed too like Scorch Gorge, Eeltail Alley, Mincemeat Metalworks, and Undertow Spillway. There will be 12 maps in the game at launch with more coming in upcoming updates afterward.

A story mode will be included in the game, but details about it are not that much yet. Salmon Run is coming back again and will be better than ever via the new mode Next Wave.

New online functionality will be introduced in this iteration like finding friends and then joining them in battle with the new lobby. Decorate your own locker with in-game items from the Hotlantis shop.
