Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda Planned To Be Replaced

Out with the old and in with the new blood.

Square Enix has recently announced that it will be replacing the current president Yosuke Matsuda and it is now pending shareholder approval.

This was announced in a notice to shareholders that got published today. The one who will be replacing Yosuke Matsuda is the Square Enix newcomer Takashi Kiryu.

The notice revealed that the approval will be sought at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting. This is happening this coming June 2023. If it gets approved, there will be a meeting of the Board of Directors to finalize the details.

“Under the rapid change of business environment surrounding the entertainment industry, the proposed change is intended to reshape the management team with the goal of adopting ever-evolving technological innovations and maximizing on the creativity of the company’s group in order to deliver even greater entertainment to its customers around the world,” the notice said.

Takashi Kiryu joined Square Enix way back in June 2020 as a general manager of the corporate planning division. He is currently 47 years old.
